A engenharia de valor concentra-se nas características de valor consideradas mais importantes do ponto de vista do cliente. A engenharia de valor é uma metodologia poderosa para resolver problemas e/ou reduzir custos, mantendo ou melhorando os requisitos de desempenho e qualidade. A engenharia de valor pode alcançar economias impressionantes, muito maiores do que as possíveis através de exercícios convencionais de redução de custos, mesmo quando a redução de custos é o objetivo da tarefa. Neste trabalho, a análise de valor implementada na caixa de engrenagens e os resultados esperados serão a redução do peso e do custo, além da economia de energia.
