La produzione di candeggina con il metodo sintetico produce carbonato di calcio, che nella maggior parte dei casi viene scaricato nei corsi d’acqua o in generale nell’ambiente, causando notevoli danni all’ambiente. In conformità con il quadro giuridico e normativo per la gestione dei rifiuti in Camerun, le aziende private sono obbligate ad adottare processi di gestione dei rifiuti come parte delle loro politiche di gestione ambientale. In quest’ottica, abbiamo condotto uno studio sul 'recupero del carbonato di calcio dalla produzione di candeggina con il metodo sintetico nella città di Douala in Camerun'. Lo studio consisteva nella scelta del processo da attuare per il recupero del carbonato di calcio precipitato, prendendo il caso di un repellente per insetti striscianti e valutando l’impatto di questo repellente per insetti striscianti su scarafaggi e avannotti.
