La libertà computazionale e gli strumenti di progettazione emergenti stanno portando a progetti geometricamente complessi nel campo dell’architettura. I progettisti sono in grado di lavorare con geometrie e variazioni di design più complesse. La sfida consiste nel definire queste geometrie in componenti costruibili con vincoli in termini di tecniche di costruzione, materiali e costi. Per rispondere a questo problema sono stati sviluppati diversi algoritmi di tassellatura personalizzati. Nella prima parte, questo libro esaminerà i modi in cui una superficie a forma libera può essere razionalizzata per produrre una soluzione di pannellatura ottimizzata. Nella seconda parte, questo libro prende come caso di studio il progetto 'The Oval' a Limassol, Cipro, per spiegare il processo di progettazione integrato dallo sviluppo della forma alla razionalizzazione della geometria del progetto, che porta a una soluzione modulare ed economica.
