Lo 'scambio di prigionieri palestinesi-Shalit' è stato uno dei temi principali della copertura mediatica in Medio Oriente per quasi cinque anni. Lo studio ha cercato di identificare la copertura mediatica online dello Scambio da parte di Aljazeera English e Ha’aretz in termini di manipolazione del linguaggio per individuare le strategie discorsive e i mezzi linguistici di autogiustificazione di entrambe le agenzie di stampa nei confronti di questo tema. I risultati dell’analisi critica del discorso, utilizzando la teoria della transitività di Halliday, hanno rivelato che entrambe le agenzie di stampa hanno impiegato in modo diverso i processi materiali, i processi verbali e i processi relazionali per evidenziare alcuni personaggi e azioni dello Swap dal loro punto di vista.
