Die 'Psychologie des Jugendalters' gliedert sich in zwei Teile: Sozialisation und Individuation. Damit sind einerseits allgemeine, biologisch bestimmte Eigenschaften und andererseits besondere umweltbedingte Eigenschaften und Verhaltensweisen gemeint. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf den Wahrnehmungen Jugendlicher . Außerdem werden Unterschiede zwischen Jugendlichen aus der Mittelschicht und aus der Arbeiterschicht behandelt, diese zeigen sich etwa im dissoziativen und assoziativen Verhalten. Eingegangen wird auch auf dasästhetische Verhalten von Jugendlichen heute sowie auf jugendfeindliche Tendenzen von seiten Erwachsener. Dieses Buch ist eine Einführung, zu deren Verständnis keine Vorkenntnisse in Psychologieoder Entwicklungspsychologie notwendig sind.
