Animals have always been part of our lives; even more so those that we have adopted in our home, which is why it is necessary to legally regulate our coexistence with domestic animals at all levels of government. For this reason, we decided to investigate the relationship between the protection and welfare of domestic animals with respect to the regulations issued by the Provincial Municipality of San Martin in the district of Tarapoto, having as objectives: identify the articles of Law No. 30407, which prescribe on domestic animals and the knowledge of the population, identify the policies implemented by the Provincial Municipality of San Martin, regarding domestic animals and the population’s knowledge of these, identify compliance with the policies implemented by the Provincial Municipality of San Martin, regarding domestic animals and finally establish the relationship between the protection and welfare of domestic animals and the policies implemented by the Provincial Municipality of San Martin.
