The aim of this book was to characterize the conditions favorable to the progress of tomato black spot caused by Alternaria solani in Viçosa-MG, Brazil, as well as the effects of the disease on tomato production, genotypes, and cultivation systems in different growing seasons. Control of black spot was most effective in the fall/winter and winter/spring seasons. During these seasons, the onset of the epidemic was delayed by 60 days.
