Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu ujawnienie pewnych słabości projektów inteligentnych miast i przeprowadzenie retorycznej debaty wspieranej przez postępową część populacji. Projekty inteligentnych miast są ważne dla polityki miejskiej, ponieważ pozwalają na ponowne odkrycie terytoriów. Musimy brać pod uwagę nie tylko duże sieci energetyczne i/lub technologie, ale także dystrybucję i zarządzanie zadaniami i sieciami prowadzonymi przez obywateli, ponieważ promują one dobro obywatelskie i wrażliwość społeczną. 'Inteligentne miasto' jest dobrym programem, ponieważ może mieć na celu rozwój nowej formy 'nowoczesności i cywilizacji' platformy produkcyjnej. Liczne aspekty polityki terytorialnej mogą zwiększyć konkurencyjność terytoriów, w szczególności spójność społeczną, rozpowszechnianie wiedzy, kreatywność, dostępność i swobodę przemieszczania się, użyteczność samego środowiska i jakość krajobrazu, a także dobrobyt obywateli.
