This book investigates the production of methane gas from a shale reservoir which is a most important unconventional petroleum resource & the need to produce hydrocarbons from shale reservoirs will be increasing day by day. The mechanism of reversible & irreversible sorption refers to the processes by which hydrocarbons adhere to or are adsorbed by a shale matrix. The mechanism of sorption in hydrocarbons on shale matrix is affected by the micro-scale affinity between the adsorbent-adsorbate molecule, pore-scale heterogeneity of the surface with respect to pore size distribution, and structural heterogeneity of the system. All constants such as reversible desorption, reversible retention rate constant, irreversible retention rate constant, etc. are given to that model equations before introducing into numerical simulation methodology. Finally, the results are retrieved in the form of data files like pressure, total gas production capacity, reversible sorption, irreversible sorption, etc. With these output parameters data, the graphs are generated at 1st Day, 10th Day, 15th Day & 30th Day to analyze the behavior of these parameters within the reservoir during production.
