La génétique est l’étude de l’hérédité et de la variation des organismes vivants. À la base se trouvent plusieurs principes clés qui régissent la manière dont les traits sont transmis de génération en génération. Hérédité : Les traits sont hérités des parents par la transmission d’informations génétiques codées dans l’ADN. Héritage mendélien : les lois sur l’héritage de Gregor Mendel, y compris la ségrégation et l’assortiment indépendant, décrivent comment les gènes sont transmis et exprimés dans la progéniture. Variation génétique : la variation génétique résulte de mutations, de recombinaisons génétiques et de flux génétiques, contribuant à la diversité au sein et entre les populations. Expression génétique : Le processus d’expression génétique implique la transcription de l’ADN en ARN et la traduction de l’ARN en protéines, qui déterminent les caractéristiques et les fonctions d’un organisme. Troubles génétiques : les mutations et les anomalies génétiques peuvent entraîner des troubles génétiques affectant la santé et le développement. Génétique des populations : La génétique des populations étudie la variation et l’évolution génétiques au sein des populations, y compris des facteurs tels que la sélection naturelle, la dérive génétique et le flux génétique.
