Este livro explora a prevalência da Síndrome da Cruz Inferior (SCL) entre jovens adultos com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 24 anos. O SCL é um desequilíbrio postural caracterizado por flexores da anca e extensores lombares tensos combinados com fraqueza dos músculos abdominais e glúteos. Estes desequilíbrios musculares podem levar a uma alteração da biomecânica, a desvios posturais e a um aumento do risco de desenvolver dor lombar crónica.Através de um estudo observacional que envolveu 317 participantes, este trabalho identifica padrões de dor, níveis de incapacidade e limitações funcionais utilizando medidas de resultados validadas, tais como a Escala Numérica de Classificação da Dor, o Índice de Incapacidade de Oswestry, o Teste de Thomas Modificado e a avaliação postural. Os resultados destacam uma maior prevalência de LCS nas mulheres e demonstram o impacto da má postura e do estilo de vida sedentário na saúde músculo-esquelética no início da idade adulta.Esta monografia fornece informações valiosas para estudantes, clínicos, investigadores e profissionais de fisioterapia, salientando a importância do rastreio precoce, dos exercícios corretivos, da ergonomia e das estratégias preventivas para reduzir o peso a longo prazo da dor lombar.
