Questo studio identifica la prevalenza e l’impatto delle cefalee primarie sulla vita accademica, familiare e sociale degli studenti universitari di un’università di Durban, in Sudafrica. Il tipo più comune di cefalea primaria identificato è stato quello di tipo tensivo. Le cefalee hanno avuto un impatto negativo sulle attività accademiche dei partecipanti affetti, causando una limitazione della concentrazione e un arresto completo degli studi. Anche le attività familiari, sociali e ricreative sono state trascurate durante gli attacchi di cefalea.
