Le paludisme et l’anémie sont des problèmes de santé publique critiques pour les femmes enceintes, en particulier dans les régions endémiques. Cette étude a évalué la prévalence du paludisme et de l’anémie chez 130 femmes enceintes fréquentant les cliniques prénatales de l’hôpital général de Calabar, en Afrique. En utilisant des frottis sanguins épais et minces et des méthodes d’hématocrite, les résultats ont indiqué que seulement 3 femmes (2,31%) étaient infectées par le paludisme (p=0,487), ce qui montre une faible prévalence. Le volume cellulaire moyen des femmes infectées par le paludisme était de 26,25±2,12, ce qui indique une anémie, alors que les femmes non infectées par le paludisme avaient un volume cellulaire moyen de 33,75±3,11. Les résultats soulignent la nécessité d’effectuer des examens prénataux réguliers et de surveiller les paramètres hématologiques pour garantir la santé maternelle et des interventions appropriées pour l’anémie.
