Questo libro esamina la presenza della Cina in Nigeria, un caso di colonialismo o di strategia win-win. Tra gli obiettivi specifici dello studio c’era quello di esaminare le iniziative che la Cina sta adottando per aumentare la propria influenza in Nigeria, determinare se l’accordo commerciale bilaterale Nigeria-Cina abbia aumentato il commercio cinese con la Nigeria e stabilire se la storia della Cina in Nigeria rappresenti un neo-colonialismo o una strategia win-win. I risultati hanno rivelato che esiste uno squilibrio commerciale tra i due Paesi. Tuttavia, sia le imprese cinesi che quelle nigeriane hanno tratto grandi benefici dagli sforzi economici cinesi in Nigeria. Grazie ai contributi cinesi sono stati costruiti progetti infrastrutturali chiave, con conseguenti guadagni economici per entrambe le nazioni. Le aziende cinesi hanno anche dato ai dipendenti nigeriani accesso a tecnologie e formazione all’avanguardia, favorendo lo sviluppo di una nuova generazione di lavoratori competenti e preparati. Per quanto riguarda lo squilibrio commerciale, la Nigeria dovrebbe prendere spunto dai risultati e dai fallimenti di alcune altre nazioni che si sono precedentemente collegate alla Cina e dalle loro strategie di crescita, al fine di implementare un approccio ragionevole per risolvere qualsiasi squilibrio nella nazione.
