Home, home on the plains...... My name is Linda Roesch; I am an artist. I’ve lived in South Dakota for most of my life, and I still get my mail at an address just seven miles from where I was raised. But I love to travel, and as I’ve gotten older my travels have taken me farther and farther from home. Travel has proven to be the best education, and I am truly thankful for every day spent on the road. The watercolor and acrylic paintings featured in this book were completed between 2014-2018, depicting places and events happening in and around North and South Dakota. I’ve spent the last two years working as a teaching artist in both states during the school year, and in the summer months you’ll find me selling paintings at art festivals throughout the Midwest. I love working en plein air, and many of the paintings in this book were started on location; others were completed in my basement studio using reference photos. Come along with me on this journey as we celebrate the subtle beauty of the open plains! Our rolling hills and stark prairie dotted by the occasional grain elevator; the landmark old house that has withstood generations; and my all time favorite..... our clouds in June. The printing of this book was made possible by a grant from the South Dakota Arts Council. Many thanks to the Council for sponsoring projects such as these! This book is dedicated to my Grandpa, and to my college professors who are still supportive of my artistic endeavors.

    Linda Roesch
My name is Linda Roesch; I am an artist. Growing up on a family farm in rural South Dakota, I learned to appreciate the subtle beauty of the open prairies. I have an affinity for falling down farm houses, old gas stations and abandoned elevators (of the grain exchange variety), and many of my paintings showcase these prairie gems. Though I still call South Dakota home, I have a...
