La promozione dei prodotti locali risponde a una crescente esigenza di evidenziare le differenze e le identità dei soggetti interessati. Abbiamo analizzato le opportunità offerte dall’indicazione geografica dell’ananas Pan di Zucchero dell’altopiano di Allada, in Benin, in un mondo sempre più globalizzato. La questione del potenziale economico e sociale dell’IG per l’ananas Pan di Zucchero è stata affrontata utilizzando la teoria del bene comune e la teoria della categorizzazione cognitiva. È stato utilizzato un approccio metodologico che comprendeva ricerche documentarie e interviste con un questionario somministrato a 500 persone sull’altopiano di Allada. I dati raccolti sono stati elaborati con il software SPSS per supportare le informazioni ottenute. I risultati dell’analisi mostrano che le parti interessate sono state ben formate nel processo di registrazione dell’ananas IG. L’indicazione geografica è un mezzo per far conoscere il frutto sui mercati mondiali e contribuire alla ricchezza del terroir. Il prodotto locale beninese 'Ananas Pain de sucre' sarà ora identificato da un nuovo segno distintivo sulla confezione.
