Popiół z wytłoków trzciny cukrowej (SGBA) jest wykorzystywany jako materiał pucolanowy do opracowywania mieszanek cementowych w odniesieniu do wytrzymałości i trwałości betonu mieszanego, a także do identyfikacji optymalnych poziomów zastąpienia zwykłego cementu portlandzkiego (OPC) SGBA i zastąpienia piasku pyłem kamiennym w betonie mieszanym. Beton mieszany przygotowano przez zastąpienie OPC SGBA (10% masy cementu) i zastąpienie piasku rzecznego pyłem kamiennym (10%, 20%, 30%, 40% i 50% masy piasku) w stanie suchym.
