Sabrina Schöttle untersucht, inwiefern das Internet dazu beiträgt, die Lücke in der politischen Partizipation zu schließen und ob Männer und Frauen unterschiedlich partizipieren. Es wird empirisch überprüft, wie sich die bislang Inaktiven von jenen unterscheiden, die zu Online-Partizipation motiviert sind. Die Ergebnisse zeigen einerseits eine generelle Aufgeschlossenheit gegenüber elektronischer politischer Beteiligung, andererseits liegen nach wie vor soziale und geschlechterspezifische Unterschiede vor.
