Ce livre traite des changements que la politique commerciale indienne en général et la politique textile en particulier ont subis au cours de la période et de la performance de l’industrie d’exportation de l’habillement de 1981-82 à 2015-16, la période d’étude. Cette période a été marquée par une ère de réformes économiques et de promotion des exportations depuis 1991. L’analyse montre que le taux moyen d’augmentation des exportations de vêtements de sport au cours de la période 1981-82 à 1990-91, la période précédant la libéralisation, était plus élevé que le taux atteint au cours de la période 1991-92 à 2015-16, la période postérieure à la libéralisation. Ce livre tente d’attirer l’attention sur les causes probables de cette baisse de performance de l’industrie indienne de l’exportation de vêtements.
