Pszczoły bezżądłowe (Meliponini) stanowią kluczową grupę zapylaczy w ekosystemach tropikalnych i subtropikalnych. W obu Amerykach te rodzime pszczoły odgrywają fundamentalną rolę w ochronie różnorodności biologicznej, przyczyniając się do zapylania szerokiej gamy gatunków roślin. Jednak wiedza na temat ich różnorodności i ekologii w Panamie pozostaje ograniczona, z rozproszonymi zapisami historycznymi i kilkoma ostatnimi badaniami dotyczącymi ich identyfikacji i rozmieszczenia w różnych regionach kraju.Niniejsze badanie koncentrowało się na identyfikacji i charakterystyce gatunków pszczół bezżądłowych występujących w społeczności Los Lajones, dystrykt Cañazas, Veraguas, Panama. W tym celu pobieranie próbek przeprowadzono przy użyciu zmiennych transektów oraz bezpośrednich obserwacji jakościowych i ilościowych w okresie od listopada 2022 r. do marca 2023 r. Zastosowaliśmy metodę bezpośredniego zbierania gniazd, a w niektórych przypadkach wykorzystaliśmy sieci do chwytania okazów. Identyfikację taksonomiczną przeprowadzono przy użyciu kluczy entomologicznych, w wyniku czego stwierdzono obecność łącznie czterech rodzajów.
