Badanie to dotyczyło integracji hodowli ryb w stawach z hodowlą drobiu i uprawą warzyw przez drobnych rolników w strefie Gedeo w południowej Etiopii. Celem badania było zidentyfikowanie czynników utrudniających wdrażanie rolnictwa zintegrowanego oraz uświadomienie i zaprezentowanie docelowym rolnikom zasad rolnictwa zintegrowanego. Zastosowano metodologię celową, polegającą na wyborze kebele, a 50% ekspertów z Woreda wybrano na podstawie ich biegłości w zakresie tematu badań, a rolników wybrano metodą PRA. Dane analizowano przy użyciu technik zarówno jakościowych, jak i ilościowych. Wyniki pokazują, że wśród różnych czynników wpływających na wdrażanie tego zintegrowanego rolnictwa w regionie znajduje się brak szkoleń i badań w tej dziedzinie. Stwierdzono, że wartość bieżąca netto projektu przy stopie dyskontowej 8,5% (Developmental Bank of Ethiopian, 2011) wynosząca 622 birrów na 0,0224 ha gruntu jest akceptowalna. Ogólne wyniki badania wykazały, że zintegrowana hodowla ryb w stawach z drobiem i uprawą warzyw stanowi doskonały pakiet rozwiązań sprzyjający zrównoważonej produkcji, rozwojowi umiejętności, generowaniu dochodów, wzmacnianiu pozycji kobiet na obszarach wiejskich, zwiększaniu wykorzystania niewykorzystanych zasobów oraz budowaniu świadomości rolników w zakresie integracji półintensywnej.
