Die Verschlechterung der brasilianischen Ökosysteme ist vor allem auf anthropogene Eingriffe infolge der Urbanisierung und des Abbaus natürlicher Ressourcen zurückzuführen. Dies hat die Durchführung von Maßnahmen zur Wiederherstellung der Umwelt in den betroffenen Gebieten erforderlich gemacht. Der Plan zur Wiederherstellung geschädigter Gebiete (PRAD) wurde in den 1980er Jahren eingeführt und hat sich seither in Genehmigungsverfahren, Programmen für Ausgleichs- und Ersatzmaßnahmen durchgesetzt und ist zu einem wichtigen Steuerungs- und Kontrollinstrument für den ökologischen Wiederherstellungsprozess geworden. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Bedeutung und Relevanz von PRAD zu untersuchen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde ein Fahrplan für seine Erstellung erstellt, in dem jede Phase analysiert und seine Bedeutung für die Wiederherstellung geschädigter Gebiete aufgezeigt wird. Infolgedessen wurde der Plan zur Wiederherstellung degradierter Flächen - Bergwerk Forquilha - Aufbereitungsanlage und Abraumhalde als Fallstudie herangezogen, um das Auftreten der einzelnen Phasen zu veranschaulichen und ihre Effizienz bzw. ihren Erfolg zu überprüfen und so den Wiederherstellungsprozess in einem realen Fall zu demonstrieren.
