Plamica naczyniowa (PV) to grupa elementarnych zmian skórnych odzwierciedlających wynaczynienie czerwonych krwinek do skóry właściwej w następstwie uszkodzenia ściany naczyniowej. Chociaż diagnoza ma charakter kliniczny, zasadniczo opiera się na wykluczeniu trombocytopenii, która zwykle wynosi mniej niż 50 000/mm3, oraz braku objawów kliniczno-biologicznych przemawiających za trombopatią.Etiologia plamicy naczyniowej jest zróżnicowana, od przyczyn zakaźnych i polekowych po choroby autoimmunologiczne i nowotworowe.Rzeczywiście, PV może ujawniać wiele stanów o różnym nasileniu, od izolowanego zajęcia skóry po zagrażające życiu choroby ogólnoustrojowe. W rezultacie skrupulatne badanie etiologiczne jest niezbędne we wszystkich przypadkach PV, w celu rozpoczęcia odpowiedniego leczenia i poprawy rokowania choroby sprawczej.
