The mechanisms of mixing freshwater and ocean water contribute to the variability of the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of an estuary. The organisms that live in these ecosystems are adapted to these specific environmental conditions, forming communities that are considered among the most productive in the biosphere. The objective of this study was to characterize the structure and composition of the phytoplankton community in the estuarine ecosystem of the Maraú River - Camamu Bay (BA) and its relationship with environmental parameters.
