Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) stelt de cloud-gebruiker in staat om diensten te gebruiken in een flexibele omgeving. De rekenintensieve applicaties en data-intensieve applicaties maken gebruik van Cloud resources. Deze toepassingen worden weergegeven door workflows of Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG). Workflowplanning is een complex onderwerp in IaaS omdat meerdere planningsparameters moeten worden beschouwd om te voldoen aan de Quality of Service-parameters. De heuristische en metaheuristische planningsstrategieën moeten worden bedacht om binnen polynomiale tijd bijna optimale oplossingen te bereiken. In dit boek worden verschillende planningsalgoritmes voorgesteld.
