Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: In der heute zunehmend komplexeren Arbeitsumgebung der grafischen Industrie sind verstärkt Standards gefordert, um normierte Übergabepunkte für digitale Daten zu schaffen. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit erläutert das Portable Document Format (PDF), was dieser Entwicklung Rechnung trägt. Behandelt werden theoretische Grundlagen zu PDF, Definitionen von geschlossenen/offenen Workflows und der beispielhafte Aufbau eines PDF basierten Workflows in der Druckvorstufe. Zu jedem einzelnen Produktionsschritt wird aktuelle Software zu dessen Realisierung vorgestellt. Abschließend sind Beispiele zur Automatisierung solcher individuell abgestimmter Workflows aufgeführt und erläutert. Die Arbeit soll als Orientierungshilfe für Anwender in der Druckvorstufe dienen, die sich diesem Themengebiet nähern wollen. Die große Menge derzeitig vorhandener Informationen zu PDF wurden in ihr aufbereitet und möglichst verständlich dargestellt.
