Für die Visualisierung der innermotorischen Prozesse setzt sie verschiedene optische Messverfahren ein. Dabei erfassen Hochgeschwindigkeitskameras die Rußstrahlung während des Verbrennungsvorgangs. Neben dieser bildgebenden, zweidimensionalen Messtechnik kommt zur Ermittlung der innermotorischen Rußbildung und der Verbrennungstemperatur die Zweifarbenmethode zum Einsatz. Zeitgleich mit der Visualisierung des Brennraums erfasst die Autorin die Partikelemission im Abgassystem erstmals mittels laserinduzierter Inkandeszenz (LII) in situ und arbeitsspielaufgelöst.
