De acordo com esta teoria, cria-se um bode expiatório para a sociedade - um bode expiatório ao qual podem ser atribuídas ansiedades sociais, destradicionalização, medos existenciais e preocupações com a crise económica.Quando as pessoas estão frustradas, infelizes ou assustadas, dirigem a sua agressividade para grupos impopulares, facilmente identificáveis ​​e impotentes. Devido à consequente sensação de sobrecarga, falta de reconhecimento e desorientação, muitos jovens enfrentam a desintegração social e o risco de um desenvolvimento psicológico e físico insatisfatório da personalidade.Durante o mesmo período em que ocorrem alterações biofísicas e formação da personalidade, os jovens necessitam também de realizar tarefas de integração.
