A linguagem é a ferramenta de comunicação entre as pessoas. A multiplicidade de línguas, acompanhada pelo desejo de viajar pelo mundo, torna difícil para as pessoas compreenderem todos esses sistemas linguísticos. Os tradutores representam a ferramenta de comunicação entre pessoas de diferentes línguas. Anteriormente, havia uma série de desafios (semânticos, linguísticos, etc.) que os tradutores enfrentavam durante o processo de tradução. Agora, os tradutores enfrentam uma nova forma de desafios, representada pela variedade de culturas. Este trabalho destaca esta área em que a cultura tem um papel determinante na tradução de textos. Como é que a cultura pode afetar o processo de tradução? As decisões do tradutor? A atitude do tradutor? Além disso, que ferramentas auxiliares podem ajudar os tradutores a superar este desafio? Têm os efeitos adequados? Em que medida e em que condições? Tudo isto e muito mais pode ser encontrado neste trabalho.
