This excellent reference document provides the complete breakdown of the BEF on the Western Front, as it was at the time of the 1918 Armistice, by army, corps and divisions, with an index to individual units showing their attachment to higher formations. As a research tool it has one major advantage over the later published ’Order of Battle of Divisions’ compiled by Becke in that it lists the Line of Communications, army and corps troops. Everything is here right down to the Pigeon Service with its mobile and fixed lofts, and the Messenger Dog Sections. An added interest is the Order of Battle of the two divisions of the Portuguese Expeditionary Force.
