Sobre IBD

Philomina Tirkey Imam is an internationally wellknown Oraon tribal artist and wife of the environmentalist Bulu Imam. She has pioneered with her three daughters a resurgence of Oraon Sohrai painting which she has taken to exhibitions in Europe, UK, and Australia. Her songs evoke the magic of a world fast disappearing from the forest landscape of Jharkhand plateau in eastern India which has been her home since childhood. The folk songs and stories in this volume evoke the old traditions learned from her mother and father where she grew up in her forest village of Dato in Hazaribagh. These oral traditions of her tribe will be an inspiration for generations to come in Tribal India.
