W naszym opracowaniu zajęliśmy się kwestią reżimu kursowego dla krajów Zachodnioafrykańskiej Unii Gospodarczej i Walutowej (WAEMU). Opierając się na metodzie Edwardsa (1989), najpierw oszacowaliśmy równowagowy realny kurs walutowy strefy UEMOA metodą Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) na podstawie jego determinant, a następnie wyznaczyliśmy wektor optymalnego kursu walutowego strefy UEMOA. Następnie przeanalizowaliśmy wpływ optymalnego kursu walutowego na wzrost gospodarczy krajów UEMOA, po uprzednim przeanalizowaniu wpływu bieżącego realnego kursu walutowego na wzrost gospodarczy krajów UEMOA za pomocą metody Generalized Least Squares (GLS) ze zmiennymi instrumentalnymi. Te badania ekonometryczne wykazały, że uzyskany optymalny kurs walutowy ma pozytywny wpływ na wzrost gospodarczy krajów UEMOA, natomiast obecny realny kurs walutowy ma negatywny wpływ na wzrost gospodarczy tych krajów.
