This compilation is to get readers to remember fondly by books’ end that which has passed. Depicted are the themes of the house; what we have come to define as being a home; a sentimental value; a humble abode to reside in where all inside are members of the home; yet when emptied is the house still a home?Another theme running abound this latest release is the domesticity of the caretaker of the home; are chores enjoyed or simply endured? Viewing the home as a structure is shown to have many styles within the beach cottages. During time away from the city to the outskirts of town: the yonder shores and residing in the littlest bungalow; similar to that of the Iddlemoor style built in 1884 is another example of a home away from home that city dwellers may escape to for relaxing and mending the weary work bones.Fondly remembered are the photos reveling with history, yet standing amidst today as garden objects...like the one titled farmers’ best hand, helper, and the one titled the globe of the setting sun at Andover. Sunset is recurring, yet each appearance is different each day; casting its glow on the sphere-like-globe remaining an object of art abstractedly present. The photo guarding to protect, provides the image of days past and perhaps where a nation once stood; with the guards posing as a reminder, causing one to stop and take stock and soldier onward for the better. With remembrance there is trauma revealed and relived; like the mentioned poet/author Franz Wright whose bout with depression helped spur some of his poems.

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A
    Maureen O'Shaughnessy
In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides. It is more than reaching for a cup adding water and a tea bag of choice, or adding loose leaf tea from a tea container and bringing it to boil to making and having a cup of tea.It is my wish to enable others on this journey to do more with what they’ve done with tea; not...

  • Lacking in Elaboration Collective Thoughts Poesies---Circa 2004
    Ainee Beland
What began as an introductory course into poetry burned cravings into me, at times very confrontational with the professor, in wanting, needing to be heard. To have him know that I could write poetry, perhaps not as good as Blake, Conrad, Dickinson, Frost, Shakespeare and the countless dead poets whose name escapes me resulted with this compilation. Each poem either fashione...
