A escola primária deve preparar as crianças para as realidades da vida e permitir-lhes participar na vida cultural, social e económica da nossa sociedade.As competências linguísticas da criança são exigidas ao máximo, razão pela qual existem, desde o ano letivo de 2018/19, aulas e cursos separados de apoio ao alemão em toda a Áustria, no interesse da igualdade de oportunidades.No entanto, estudos mostram que este modelo de promoção do alemão é inferior a outros modelos de promoção da língua.Por este motivo, e com base em inquéritos a educadores de infância e professores do ensino primário, parece que um segundo ano obrigatório de jardim de infância poderia contrariar o problema da falta de conhecimentos de alemão.A entrada regular e precoce no jardim de infância cria condições óptimas para que as crianças possam experimentar e experimentar a língua num contexto lúdico.Por esta razão, a obrigatoriedade de um segundo ano de jardim de infância é uma possível diretriz de desenvolvimento para um programa de promoção precoce do alemão na Áustria.
