O nosso objetivo é estimar a função de produção a nível nacional, com vista a compreender o papel do capital humano. Analiso o efeito da educação, especialmente o efeito da percentagem de licenciados na população em idade produtiva (entre 25 e 54 anos) na produtividade laboral dos países da União Europeia (UE). Aqui, uma questão importante é a eficiência das instituições de ensino superior. Divido a proporção do capital humano para observá-la sob diferentes aspetos e comparo o efeito dos níveis de ensino superior inferior e superior, por especializações e por género.
