Recorrendo a fontes intelectuais e a teorias cómicas que vão de Freud, Esslin, Camus e Beckett a Koestler, Bergson, Palmer e Critchley, este estudo pretende examinar a forma como a rejeição da lógica da comédia tradicional, que é contestada mas, em última análise, reafirmada, serve para articular um sentimento da condição absurda, ao mesmo tempo que exprime o sentimento de que talvez nem tudo faça sentido.
