O autor baseia-se na medicina antiga e em conhecimentos adquiridos por diversas culturas antigas, para defender que é mulherengo e ocioso aquele que possui olhos tremulantes e perversos e que é ardiloso e mulherengo quem possui olhos pequenos e azuis. Atribui-se outros caracteres específicos às faixas etárias, ao gênero e às condições climáticas. 10
