Este trabalho é um ensaio autobiográfico que trata da luta resoluta contra a mutilação genital feminina no Mali, liderado pela Sra. Keita Joséphine TRAORE. A luta contra a mutilação genital feminina fez dela uma figura-chave, no que diz respeito à questão na África Ocidental. Como laureada do Chevalier de l’Ordre National, sempre lutou por mais igualdade e justiça, especialmente a defesa dos direitos da mulher em relação a uma prática que aflige a África Ocidental. Foi confrontada com muitas dificuldades na sua vida quotidiana, pois a guerra contra a F.G.M foi um desperdício de esforços. Ela acreditava na sua boa fada, e hoje em dia a mudança de comportamento é perceptível em todo o Mali. Graças ao seu dinamismo e coragem, foi estabelecido o Programa Nacional de Luta contra as mutilações genitais femininas, ela foi a sua Directora em 2002. Todos os anos, 6 de Fevereiro, é celebrado como uma dedicação à luta contra a F.G.M. Estas actividades visam a erradicação da prática da F.G.M no Mali. Ao escrever este livro, a minha intenção é partilhar com o leitor a minha luta por uma proibição total da prática da mutilação genital feminina no Mali, através de um Acto do Parlamento legalmente vinculativo.
