Michael Brotz untersucht in seiner Arbeit das Potenzial des variablen Ventiltriebs für die NOx-Speicherkatalysatorregeneration bei Dieselmotoren im unteren Teillastbetrieb. Er zeigt durch umfangreiche thermodynamische Analysen den Einfluss hoher interner Restgasraten auf das unterstöchiometrische Brennverfahren. Die Versuche erfolgen experimentell auf dem Motorenprüfstand an einem Vier-Zylinder-Dieselmotor mit variablem Ventiltrieb. Mithilfe der entwickelten Methodik und dem variablem Ventiltrieb gelingt es dem Autor, den zulässigen Kennfeldbereich der NOx-Speicherkatalysatorregeneration zu geringeren Motorlasten hin zu erweitern.
