This book is intended for researchers in public health and health economics. Indeed, healthcare-associated infections remain a field that has been little explored by research. Furthermore, the book sheds light on these infections in their broader context, including their economic dimension. It follows that public awareness campaigns and efforts to prevent these infections should be stepped up, as current levels of action are insufficient despite the resources available; this contributes to rising healthcare costs and raises questions about whether these resources are being used optimally. Nosocomial infection can lead to euthanasia. The latter raises ethical issues and involves human life.
