Во второй половине XX века под руководством Советского Союза возник блок социалистических стран, просуществовавший в основном в Восточной Европе более четырех десятилетий. Большинство этих стран в целом следовали советской государственно-ориентированной модели социалистического строительства. Югославия, осуществив по сути самостоятельно народно-демократическую революцию, нашла свой путь развития. После Второй мировой войны югославы, стремясь развивать собственную версию рыночного социализма с активным участием в международных экономических отношениях, создали уникальную саморегулирующуюся социалистическую экономику. Для эконометрического анализа здесь, помимо неоклассических моделей роста, используется эндогенная общая модель типа калдорианской, в которую встроен механизм технического прогресса. Она рассматривает не только физический и человеческий капитал, но и время как событийное пространство творческой экономической деятельности. Эта модель позволила сравнить совокупную факторную эффективность югославской экономики с мировым уровнем и выявила тормозной механизм в ее функционировании. Монография основана на богатом фактическом материале, частично впервые введенном в научный оборот.
