И в этом состоит географическая уникальность этой области.Тем не менее, различные этнические группы населения, освоившие эти территории, географически распределяются достаточно равномерно по всей области. И в этом проявляется отличие Смоленского Великого Водораздела (СВВ) от более восточных русских земель: Московского и Владимирского Поочья.
