Горб часто является хорошим показателем здоровья и должен быть округлым, пухлым и вертикальным или слегка наклоненным. Некоторые мелкие породы пустынных верблюдов имеют небольшие горбы, которые не следует путать с дряблыми, сморщенными горбами обездоленных, пожилых или больных верблюдов (HMSO, 1956).
