Dies ist eine Studie über die Wahrnehmung von Nachrichten über Fälle von Belästigung von Frauen durch Journalisten. Die Untersuchung basiert auf den indischen Gesetzen zum Schutz von Frauen, wobei die Forscherin zwei wichtige Strafgesetze zum Schutz von Frauen berücksichtigt hat: 1) IPC Abschnitt 498A, der verheiratete Frauen vor Belästigung im Zusammenhang mit Mitgift schützt, und 2) IPC Abschnitt 354, der sexuelle Belästigung am Arbeitsplatz unter Strafe stellt. Die Forscherin beobachtete ein Jahr lang die Nachrichten in verschiedenen Zeitungen und sah sich die Berichterstattung über Fälle von Belästigung von Frauen in Fernsehsendern an, bevor sie dieses Thema für ihre Untersuchung auswählte. Ihre erste Beobachtung war, dass die auf Frauen ausgerichteten Gesetze in Indien von einer Handvoll Frauen missbraucht werden und die Medien dazu neigen, Frauen zu bevorzugen, selbst wenn Männer zu Unrecht beschuldigt werden. Die Untersuchung hatte zum Ziel, die Wahrheit herauszufinden und zu analysieren, ob es Vorurteile gibt.
