A secção dedicada ao exército romano aborda as decisões políticas dos imperadores, a logística, a remuneração e o abastecimento dos exércitos, as baixas militares e o recrutamento, as estratégias e táticas, bem como o declínio geral da população em todo o império. Ao adotar esta abordagem abrangente e analisar inúmeros fatores, este trabalho apresentará uma explicação mais completa para o declínio e o eventual colapso do Império Romano Ocidental.
