Ce livre explique le concept du système homme-machine en prenant l’exemple d’un hangar à locomotives. Pour cette étude de cas industrielle, on considère l’activité de maintenance des vilebrequins et des pistons de garniture de l’atelier de locomotives. L’objectif est de résoudre le problème industriel (étude de terrain) à l’aide d’une approche de modélisation mathématique. Ce modèle mathématique contribue à améliorer la qualité de vie des travailleurs et des opérateurs ainsi que la productivité en contrôlant les variables du processus. L’étude sur le terrain identifie le nombre de variables du processus (variables indépendantes et dépendantes) qui influencent le système homme-machine. Le modèle mathématique est ainsi formulé.
