Les machines à mesurer tridimensionnelles (MMT) jouent un rôle clé dans le contrôle dimensionnel et géométrique des pièces mécaniques. Pour garantir leur précision, une vérification périodique est indispensable. Les MMT sont affectées par 21 écarts géométriques : 18 écarts articulaires et 3 écarts de perpendicularité, susceptibles de se dégrader avec le temps. Les écarts d’échelle et de perpendicularité entre axes sont particulièrement critiques. Ces écarts volumétriques sont généralement évalués à l’aide de cales étalons mesurées selon des normes internationales. Ce travail propose un protocole de vérification périodique basé sur l’utilisation d’un calibre étagé, mesuré dans six positions spécifiques du volume de la machine. Deux topologies de MMT sont étudiées : WFYXZT et WFXYZT. Le modèle géométrique développé représente chaque écart cinématique par un polynôme du 3ᵉ ordre. Cette modélisation permet d’identifier avec précision les 3 écarts de perpendicularité, contribuant à une meilleure caractérisation de la machine.
