La crise des entreprises peut être envisagée sous deux angles : d’une part, elle est la conséquence de résultats défavorables résultant d’une mauvaise gestion du groupe entrepreneurial incapable de prendre en compte les dynamiques internes et externes, conduisant ainsi à la détérioration de l’entreprise ; d’autre part, elle est perçue comme une opportunité de renouvellement pour de nouvelles opportunités. Le déclin est la dernière phase du cycle de vie d’une entreprise, une phase au cours de laquelle les premiers déséquilibres et inefficacités apparaissent, en raison de l’obsolescence des produits, de l’augmentation des coûts, de la diminution des revenus due à la réduction des ventes, ce qui conduit à une détérioration chronique significative. Pour y faire face, des mesures efficaces et opportunes doivent être prises, faute de quoi un état d’insolvabilité est atteint. On parle d’insolvabilité lorsqu’une personne n’est plus en mesure de payer régulièrement ses dettes. Contracter des dettes pour une entreprise est normal, mais lorsqu’elles sont trop nombreuses, il y a un risque de ne pas pouvoir satisfaire les créanciers. Les conséquences de cette situation peuvent conduire à l’irréversibilité et donc à la faillite.
