Celem niniejszej pracy jest dostarczenie instytucjom szkolnictwa wyższego modelu zarządzania przedsiębiorczością (ramy zarządzania), który zapewni im ocenę lub poziom dojrzałości przedsiębiorczej oraz przedstawi zalecenia dotyczące osiągnięcia wyższego poziomu dojrzałości. Przede wszystkim opracowano przegląd istniejącej literatury na temat technologicznej przedsiębiorczości akademickiej. Następnie zidentyfikowano i wybrano najbardziej wpływowe czynniki dojrzałości przedsiębiorczej na uniwersytetach. Na koniec zaprojektowano model zarządzania, aby pomóc instytucjom szkolnictwa wyższego, które starają się wspierać przedsiębiorczość w swoich instytucjach.
