Agent mobilny to pojazd wyposażony w wydajny nadajnik-odbiornik i akumulator, który wyszukuje najkrótszą trasę w celu zebrania danych z czujników, a następnie przesyła je do stacji zbiorczej. W niniejszym opracowaniu skupiono się głównie na problemie zminimalizowania długości każdej trasy służącej do zbierania danych. Agent mobilny wykorzystuje optymalizację koloni pszczół do rozwiązania problemu komiwojażera. Algorytm sztucznej kolonii pszczół (ABC) to algorytm wyszukiwania oparty na populacji, który wykorzystuje koncepcję interakcji społecznych do rozwiązywania problemów. Algorytm ten stosuje się do planowania tras dla agentów mobilnych; znajduje on najkrótszą trasę dla agentów mobilnych do zebrania danych z czujników, a także zapewnia najlepszy czas obliczeniowy. Skuteczność tras została oceniona na podstawie takich parametrów, jak długość trasy i czas podróży agenta przy użyciu algorytmu sztucznej kolonii pszczół. Algorytm ten wydłuża też żywotność czujników w porównaniu z innymi istniejącymi metodami. Algorytm sztucznej kolonii pszczół ma zalety w postaci dużej odporności, szybkiej zbieżności i dużej elastyczności. To podejście daje najlepsze wyniki w znalezieniu najkrótszej trasy w jak najkrótszym czasie.
